Founder Story: Diego Amezquita

Working on a Startup never crossed my mind. First of all, I didn’t know what was exactly to do, because in my country of Colombia startups are not very common even though it has always been my dream. I always wanted to work in different projects, not only in common programs. I have learned a lot through making Mirage and working at Appmunki. I had knowledge of some things, but almost everything I had to learn while I was developing the project. Computer Vision, Android, Machine Learning, iPhone Development, Rails, PlayFramework were all tools that I learned to create Mirage.
First I tried to start my own projects, apps for android, and a few games, but I always had trouble with the non-development parts. Like the design, the development, the business of application development that no one talks about. I tried get some friends to join me, they started so enthusiast, but when I told them that startups take time to grow and mature they always ended up disappointed and they left the project. It began to get really frustrating.
I have been working with android development for at least 2 years. In the beginning I didn’t have any device to test my apps, only the emulator. So after when I got my first android device, a Lg Optimus one, I started to create my own projects and my apps, I loved reactions of my friends and family so I kept working on my projects. Then I started working with Appmunki. I have had to learn a lot of things very quickly to try not to delay the development, I have learned a lot of things of android that I never thought technology could do, and sometimes though sometimes very frustrating it has been one of the most fun experience as a developer.
